Düsseldorf, Germany – May 21, 2025 – Metalshub, the leading digital platform for metals and mining supply chains, today officially opens the Metalshub Summit 2025, welcoming over 100 professionals from across the metals, mining, and recycling sectors to the industrial heart of Germany. With the central theme “Digitalisation & Sustainability in Metals, Mining and Recycling,” this two-day event brings together global experts, industry leaders, and technology innovators to drive collaborative solutions for the sector’s most pressing challenges.
Held at the striking Zollverein UNESCO World Heritage Site in Essen, Germany, the Summit features a comprehensive agenda of keynote presentations, interactive panel discussions, and curated networking sessions. Topics span across decarbonisation, digital transformation, recycling innovation, supply chain transparency, and the evolving raw materials landscape.
The first day of the Summit opens with welcoming remarks by Metalshub co-founders Dr. Sebastian Kreft and Dr. Frank Jackel, followed by a keynote from Roland Gauß of EIT RawMaterials addressing Europe’s raw materials challenges. Further highlights include:
The second day extends the conversation with presentations from Voestalpine, Anglo American, BigMint, and GMH Gruppe, culminating in a panel on decarbonisation in the automotive supply chain featuring senior voices from Fast Forward Zero, LME, Lech-Stahlwerke, and others.
“What we see here is the future of our sector taking shape. From low-carbon supply chains to smart procurement powered by data, the innovations presented at this Summit will define the next chapter of our industry.”
“This Summit is about driving real change. The industry is at a critical point where digitalisation, sustainability, and geopolitical pressure all intersect. We believe bringing together diverse voices is essential to progress,” said Dr. Frank Jackel, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Metalshub.
The Summit also includes site visits, a tour of the historic coking plant of the Zeche Zollverein, and evening networking sessions to foster deeper engagement across attendees representing aluminium, steel, copper, battery metals, and refractory sectors.
Set against a backdrop of geopolitical volatility and regulatory shifts, Metalshub Summit 2025 places renewed emphasis on actionable pathways to decarbonise and digitalise the metals supply chain. Speakers and attendees are aligned on a core ambition: building a resilient, transparent, and sustainable future for the industry.
