Introduction
Manoir France SAS has long been a cornerstone of French metallurgy, renowned for its technical expertise in producing components for critical industries such as nuclear, energy and petrochemical. Operating from its historic site in France, the foundry manages complex supply chains that require strict adherence to quality and safety standards. However, despite its technical pedigree, the company faced significant headwinds that necessitated a strategic pivot.
Following its integration into the Paralloy Group, Manoir’s procurement function became a focal point for operational renewal. The goal was to harmonise processes with the wider group and transition from legacy, manual sourcing methods to a modern, digital-first approach. The leadership identified that to secure the company’s future and drive profitability, they needed to unlock efficiency gains that were previously hidden within a static supply chain.
The Challenge: Overcoming Legacy Constraints and Market Opacity
Prior to adopting a digital solution, Manoir’s procurement operations were characterised by a reliance on a limited pool of long-standing suppliers. While these relationships were established, the lack of a broader market view meant the company had little leverage to negotiate better terms or benchmark pricing effectively. The absence of competitive tension allowed incumbent suppliers to dictate prices, contributing to inflated procurement costs that threatened margin stability.
Furthermore, the existing manual processes created “information silos,” making it difficult for the new leadership to gain visibility into spending patterns or supplier performance. In a market where raw material prices fluctuate daily, this opacity was a significant risk. Manoir faced the dual challenge of needing to expand its supplier network rapidly while simultaneously imposing strict cost controls to support its financial turnaround. The existing tools were simply insufficient to drive the aggressive efficiency targets required by the new ownership.
The Solution: A Digital Catalyst for Competitiveness
To break the cycle of legacy pricing and limited reach, Manoir chose Metalshub to digitise its “source-to-contract” process. The decision was driven by the need for a platform that could offer immediate access to a global network of qualified metal suppliers, rather than just a generic administrative tool. Metalshub served as the bridge between Manoir’s historic operations and the global market, providing the transparency needed to challenge existing cost structures.
The implementation was swift, designed to disrupt the status quo of the supply base. By moving tenders onto the platform, Manoir signalled a shift towards an open, competitive marketplace. This transition was a strategic move to introduce market discipline into every negotiation, ensuring that procurement decisions were data-driven and auditable.
The Results: Financial Impact and Market Reach
The impact of adopting Metalshub was quick, effective, and quantifiable. In the first year, Manoir France achieved a 4x Return on Investment (ROI), validating the strategic shift from manual sourcing to structured digital procurement. Crucially, the company secured a net savings improvement of approximately 4% on its top materials relative to the market index. This performance underpinned a 6% savings-to-spend ratio, a critical improvement that directly bolstered the bottom line during a crucial phase of restructuring.

And that was not all. Another significant operational shift was the expansion of the supplier ecosystem. Manoir increased its supplier base by 240%, reducing its reliance on a small circle of vendors. This influx of new options created a powerful “marketplace effect”: faced with genuine competition for the first time, existing suppliers adjusted their pricing downwards to retain business. This proved that the platform did not just help find cheaper new suppliers; it actually helped correct the pricing dynamics of the supply chain.
“Manoir France joining the Paralloy Group meant aligning with best-in-class standards, and Metalshub has been central to that transition. It gave us immediate visibility and control. Moving from manual processes to a digital marketplace has transformed procurement from a transactional function into a strategic driver of our recovery.”
Looking Ahead: Consolidating Gains and Deepening Integration
As Manoir France continues its integration with the Paralloy Group, the role of Metalshub is set to expand. The success of the initial rollout has established a blueprint for digital procurement across the wider group, with plans to standardise sourcing processes further.
Looking forward, Manoir aims to leverage the platform’s data analytics to refine its long-term hedging strategies and manage supply risk more proactively. Additionally, with the foundry industry facing increasing pressure to decarbonise, Manoir plans to utilise Metalshub’s sustainability features to track Scope 3 emissions, ensuring that its operational resurgence is both economically and environmentally sustainable.
