Ferroalloy prices June 2017
On average, ferroalloy prices have been on the rise from November 2016 to April 2017 with an aggregate average growth rate of 6%. The standard deviation of prices in this period has been 9%, which indicates a high level of volatility.
Ferrochrome and Ferromanganese have experienced the largest aggregate average growth of 4% and 5% in this period, respectively. This includes a strong price increase of 31% in December 2016.
The trend of relatively stable price increases appears to be disrupted, prices stagnated in May 2017. In June 2017 prices started falling across almost all ferroalloys. Ferrotungsten is an exception and saw an average growth of 3% in June 2017. It remains to be seen whether the present drop in ferroalloy prices marks the beginning of a period of falling prices or whether a recovery is around the corner and the rally continues.
